Again, Gunmen Attack, Bomb INEC Office in Imo State

In a developing story, gunmen Monday morning attacked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC office in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. A firebomb torched a section of the building, causing it to collapse.

According to the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mike Abbatam, who confirmed the incident, three gunmen were killed and two firebombs were recovered from the scene.

This incident comes eight days after the INEC office in Orlu Local Government Area of the state was attacked.

The Owerri attack, which occurred around 3 a.m. today, was, however, repelled, with three of the perpetrators, including their commander, being gunned down.

The police recovered AK47 rifles, pump action guns, and eight vehicles from the hoodlums.
