Oba Adekunle Salawudeen, the Aseyin of Iseyin in Oyo State, has passed away.
The monarch passed away on Sunday, making it the fourth death of a prominent traditional ruler in Oyo State in the past eight months.
Prior to his demise, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Ajagungbade Oyewumi, passed away in December 2021. He was followed by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who died in January and April, respectively.
While specifics of the Aseyin’s passing are still sketchy, it was gathered that he had been ill for some time.
Iseyin is an ancient Yoruba town located in northern Oyo State, about 91 km to the capital Ibadan.
