Council Stakeholders Move to Boost IGR in Lagos

Stakeholders have said that revenue committees in local government and local council development areas of Lagos State will adopt the professional standards of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service to improve collection and increase internally generated revenue.

The stakeholders, who are in the revenue collection system in local governments, stated this at a workshop held to deliberate on the prospects of professionalising revenue collection in the local government areas and local council development areas.

Speaking at the workshop, Chairman of LIRS, Ayo Subair, highlighted provisions of the Constitution that empower the local governments to collect revenue.
