Fake Kidnap: FCT Police Detains Twitter User, Ameerah Sufyan
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has detained a Twitter user, Ameerah Sufyan, who tweeted that she was kidnapped alongside 16 other Abuja residents.
Sufyan, who took to her Twitter handle on Monday, apologised, saying she deliberately misled the public.
Sufyan claimed on Twitter that she and 16 others, including three pregnant women and two kids, were abducted at gunpoint from different parts of Abuja by men in police uniforms.
Three days later, the FCT police command, in a statement, disclosed that she had been found.
Sufyan cliamed she intentionally took herself out of our house, went to these locations, entered bushes and dehydrated and starved herself for four days just like that; there was no kidnapping, nothing at all.
The command’s Deputy Public Relations Officer, Omotayo Oduniyi, said Sufyan “is still in police custody and investigation continues.”
