In a statement on Sunday and signed by Dr. Catherine Oby-Christopher, the FHC’s Assistant Director of Information, Justice Tsoho explained that the vacation is in accordance with Order 46, Rule 4 (b) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).
The statement further noted that during the vacation period, the Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt judicial divisions will remain open to the public, but only for cases of extreme urgency.
The Abuja division will cater to cases from the Federal Capital Territory, north central, northwestern, and northeastern parts of the country, while the Lagos division will handle cases from all southwestern states.
The Port-Harcourt division will cater to cases from all states within the south-south and southeast geopolitical zones.
Justice Tsoho added that Justices Ahmed Mohammed and Donatus Okorowo will preside over cases in the Abuja division, while Justices T.G. Ringim and A.O. Awogboro will serve as vacation judges at the Lagos division and Justices A.T. Mohammed and S.I. Mark will preside over cases at the Port-Harcourt division during the holiday period.
The CJ advised vacation judges and heads of divisions to refer promptly to him all matters that require his urgent attention and directives.
