Troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria have destroyed four illegal refining sites and arrested suspected criminals in operations across the South-South and South-East regions.

The Defence Headquarters said troops of Operation DELTA SAFE intensified anti-bunkering operations, dismantling illegal refining sites and associated equipment used for processing stolen crude oil.

Five suspected oil thieves were arrested, while arms and ammunition were recovered during the operations.

In Delta and Cross River states, troops arrested three additional suspects and recovered methamphetamine valued at over N5m.

Meanwhile, troops of Operation UDO KA conducted cordon-and-search operations in parts of Ebonyi State, arresting eight suspected terrorists and recovering assorted weapons and ammunition.

In Imo State, troops on joint patrol engaged criminal elements, neutralised some suspected IPOB/ESN members and recovered assault rifles.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, assured Nigerians of the military’s resolve to neutralise threats to national security and urged citizens to report suspicious activities through the emergency toll-free line 193.
