2024 Hajj: NAHCON Sets December Ultimatum for States Remittance

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has issued a call to all states to promptly remit a significant portion of the allocated funds to secure their Hajj slots on or before December.
The directive was contained in a statement released by the Commission’s Deputy Director of Information and Publication, Mousa Ubandawaki, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Ubandawaki asserted that in a letter directed to the Chief Executives of State Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Agencies, and Commissions, Dr. Salihu A. Usman, the Director of Finance and Accounts, emphasized the urgency of this call.
This urgency, he said is in response to the timeline set by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia.
Citizen FM reports that the Saudi authorities have made it mandatory for every Hajj Mission intending to participate in the 2024 Hajj to remit the necessary funds within a specified timeframe.
According to him, failure to comply with the directive would be interpreted as being unprepared or not interested in participating in 2024 Hajj Exercise.
He further stated that non-compliance with the directive would leave the Commission with no alternative or option but to reduce the allocation of such States and allotted to States that have completed their remittance and in need of more slots.
He pointed out that it was important that the Commission’s IBAN Account needs to be adequately funded by December for the Commission to make payment to undertake or process some activities in the Kingdom.
The letter reads: 2024 Hajj remittances “I am directed to inform you that considering the new timelines slated by Saudi authorities for 2024 Hajj activities, you are urged to expeditiously remit a reasonable percentage of funds for the slots allocation to your respective states.”
‘’Failure to do so shall be interpreted as unpreparedness on your part and shall leave the Commission with no option but to slash your allocation and add to the more prepared states as appropriate to meet datelines and ultimately facilitate a hitch-free exercise.”
He, therefore, called for their continued cooperation and understanding in order to collectively work towards meeting the deadline and facilitating a hitch- free 2024 Hajj Exercise.
”While thanking you for your continued understanding, please accept the warm regards for the Ag. Chairman/CEO,” the letter concludes.
