The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has called upon the Executive Secretaries and Chairmen of State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards to ensure a smooth and trouble-free Hajj operation in 2024.
Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, the Acting Chairman of the Commission, made this appeal during a meeting held on Tuesday in Abuja.
The meeting brought together NAHCON, the Executive Secretaries, and Chairmen of the pilgrims’ boards.
Arabi extended a hand of friendship and fellowship to the Chairmen, with the aim of achieving successful outcomes.
He emphasized that there should be no divisions between NAHCON and the state’s pilgrims’ boards, stating, “We are one and meant to serve one purpose but representing different spaces and environments.
Arabi went on to stress that unity, cooperation, and collaboration are essential for the relief of the Muslim community.
He stated, “The Muslim community will have confidence in the entity responsible for fulfilling one of the pillars of Islam when we work together as a cohesive team, rather than operating in isolation, with a mindset of ‘I represent the state, and you represent NAHCON at the center.'”
He further reminded all the chairmen the importance of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, tasking them to put it into action.
In response, Alhaji Idris Al-Makura, the Chairman of the Forum of Chairmen of state pilgrims boards, expressed the forum’s readiness to support the NAHCON Chairman in conducting a successful Hajj operation in 2024.
