Cashless Policy: Supreme Court Consolidates States Suit Against FG

The Supreme Court has consolidated multiple lawsuits filed by 16 State Governments against the Federal Government over the mode of implementation of the newly introduced Cashless Policy regime.

Led by Justice Inyang Okoro, a seven-man panel of Justices granted the request to consolidate the suits into one.

Emmanuel Ukala, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN representing Rivers State, argued the motion for consolidation, citing the need for an unhindered hearing since the matter pertains to the same issue.

Recall that the 16 states are in a legal battle with the federal government over the implementation of the Cashless Policy of the CBN.
