A Magistrates’ Court in Iyaganku in Ibadan on Thursday ordered that a unemployed man, Mustapha Abass, be remanded in a Correctional Centre for alleged murder.

The police charged Abass, whose residential address was not provided, with conspiracy and murder.

Magistrate Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti did not take the plea of Abass for want in jurisdiction.

She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

She adjourned the case until June 15 for DPP advice.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Philip Amusan told the court that Abass and others at large, committed the offence on March 31, at about 5 a.m, at Odo-Aro area, Oyo town.

Amusan said Abass caused the death of Mr Oluwafemi Alabi, 30, when he cut off his right hand wrist.

The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 324 and 316 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN)
