IGP Orders Merger of All Cybercrime Units

Inspector General of police, Usman Baba, has ordered a merger of all cybercrime units in the Nigeria Police Force into one centre.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force public relations officer announced in a statement on Friday . He said the move is to ensure effectiveness against cybercrime-related offences.

He explained that all the various units under investigative departments, investigating cybercrimes, will be merged under the Nigeria Police Force National Cyber-crime Centre situated in the Criminal Investigations Department, Headquarters, in Abuja.

The Inspector General of Police has also appointed Henry Ifeanyi, a deputy commissioner of police, as the director of the new cybercrime centre.
