INTERPOL President Praises Nigeria’s Role in Recovering €2 Million from Global Crime Syndicates
The President of the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL), Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi, has said that Nigeria, as well as certain West African nations, have been crucial in the recovery of over € 2 million linked to several organised crime syndicates across the world.
He also stated that more than 200 bank accounts linked to the illicit proceeds of online financial crime were blocked during the operation and several kingpins arrested whose crime networks are considered a serious global security threat.
According to the Security chief, Nigeria’s strategic position has been a hotbed for crime syndicates seeking to expand their domain.

Also the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, says that all is set for the smooth take-off of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) in 10 pilot states.
According to the IGP, the establishment of the Squad, a standby team of specially trained officers to rapidly intervene in major incidents, is a priority in his administration’s effort to confront the menace of violent crimes in the country.
Egbetokun noted that after the 10 pilot states identified based on the recent violent crime assessment carried out in the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the other 27 states will immediately follow.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, in his goodwill massage pledge the sup[port of the military to complement the country’s security.
