The Federal Ministry of Education has called on state governments to show more commitment towards providing their counterpart funding to accelerate the development of basic Education in Nigeria.

The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman made the call during his briefing sessions with Parastatals and agencies under the supervision of the Ministry.

According to a statement issued to newsmen by the Director of press and public relations, Benjamin Goong, the minister emphasized that his administration will prioritize basic education which is the most critical segment and foundation level in the country’s education sector.

The Minister also stated that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that every Nigerian Child is brought on board the ship of Education.

He further stated that the forthcoming National Census will put an end to the controversies surrounding the actual figures of out-of-school children.

Boboyi however identified Infrastructural gaps and inadequate Manpower as some of the challenges facing UBEC in its efforts towards ensuring equitable access to quality basic Education.
