The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has expressed its dissatisfaction with the inadequate provision of tents for Nigerian pilgrims in Muna by the Saudi company entrusted with this responsibility.

The Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan voiced his discontent while addressing journalists in Muna after inspecting the provided tents on Monday night.

Hassan also expressed his dissatisfaction with the feeding arrangements, highlighting that the meals provided were insufficient and served late to the pilgrims.

He explained that NAHCON had anticipated the likelihood of such issues and had therefore recommended their active involvement in the process. However, the Saudi authorities responsible for the matter insisted that they possessed a large-scale kitchen, the necessary expertise, and three alternative plans to ensure the satisfaction of all parties involved.

The Chairman stated that NAHCON had already notified the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah about the challenges faced by Nigerian pilgrims regarding tents and feeding.

He added that a meeting was scheduled later tonight to assess the current situation on the ground and develop a plan to address the encountered problems effectively.

The NAHCON boss emphasised that there is a longstanding rule stipulating that satisfactory services must be provided in order to be charged and paid for, reminding that refunds are given in cases where services are inadequately handled.

However, he clarified that pilgrims did not pay to be refunded but rather to experience comfort and ease in their worship of Allah.

The Chairman affirmed that NAHCON would strongly advocate and exert efforts to achieve significant, meaningful, and satisfactory improvements as soon as possible, hoping Nigerian pilgrims would be able to complete their Hajj rituals without stress.
