In an effort to enhance the quality of service delivery to pilgrims and motivate state boards to excel, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has inaugurated the Assessment and Award Committee for the evaluation of this year’s hajj operation.

This was confirmed by the Deputy Director, Information and Publication of the Commission, Mousa Ubandawaki, in a statement on Tuesday.

The committee, according to Ubandawaki, composed of former Executive Secretaries of State Pilgrim Welfare boards, will be led by Mallam Suleiman Usman, a former Director of Planning, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services (PRSILS) of the Commission.

Speaking, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, the Chairman/CEO of NAHCON, emphasised the importance of transparency, fairness, and justice in the committee’s proceedings.

Recognising the impossibility of satisfying everyone, he urged the committee members to maintain integrity and strive for excellence.

He also assured them of the Commission’s unwavering support in achieving their objectives and invoked Allah’s guidance for their work.

The Commissioners responsible for Operations and Licensing, as well as Personnel, Management, and Finance, echoed the Chairman’s sentiments and urged the committee to enhance the assessment criteria to meet international standards and best practices.

Mallam Suleiman Usman, the head of the newly appointed committee, expressed gratitude on behalf of the members for their appointment and pledged not to disappoint the management.

He acknowledged the opportunity to contribute their expertise to the process.

Comprising seasoned professionals and Hajj Managers, the committee will play a pivotal role in evaluating and acknowledging exceptional achievements in the planning and execution of the 2023 Hajj operations.

In addition, the Assessment and Award Committee will act as a catalyst for recognising and encouraging excellence, efficiency, and innovation within the Hajj industry.

By honouring individuals and organisations that go above and beyond in delivering exceptional services, the committee aims to drive continuous improvement.
