The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has confirmed that a disruption on a section of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) in South-West Warri, Delta State, has been successfully contained.
In a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL, Andy Odeh, the company said swift containment measures were immediately deployed to manage the situation.
According to the statement, all relevant sections of the pipeline were safely and securely isolated, confirming the company’s commitment to safeguarding host communities, personnel and the environment.
“A joint preliminary inspection involving NNPCL, the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) technical teams, and maintenance contractors has been carried out at the affected site,” the statement said.
NNPCL noted that the inspection reflected the coordinated response between the operator, regulators and technical partners to ensure the integrity of the pipeline system.
It further disclosed that the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), operator of the network, activated its Business Continuity Plan to manage the impact on all affected stakeholders, including gas shippers and suppliers, in order to minimise disruption to operations.
The company assured that it would continue to engage openly with host communities, state authorities and other critical stakeholders, while appreciating their support and cooperation.
NNPCL reiterated its commitment to community engagement, safety and operational reliability across its assets nationwide.
