Police Confirm Murder of Kano Village Head

The Nigeria Police Force has officially confirmed the horrific murder of Alhaji Dahiru Abbas, the village head of Maigari in Rimin Gado Local Government Area, Kano State.
The 70-year-old victim was allegedly attacked by unknown gunmen at his residence on Sunday.
According to a statement by SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, the Kano State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, the incident occurred at around 3:05 a.m when the suspected kidnappers invaded Abbas’ residence with the intent of abducting him.
However, during the attack, the gunmen shot the village head in the chest, and he was rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital in Kano.
He was reportedly died while receiving treatment.
Haruna-Kiyawa, therefore, assured that Operation Restore Peace teams have been mobilised to track down the perpetrators, and efforts to apprehend them have been intensified.
Recall that the late Abbas was the biological father of Munir Dahiru-Maigari, the Chairman of Rimin Gado Local Government.
The gruesome murder of the village head has sent shock waves across the community, and many are demanding swift action to bring the culprits to justice.
