The Nigeria Police Force says it has recorded full compliance with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive ordering the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP escort and guard duties across the country.

In a statement obtained by Citizen FM on Saturday, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the police high command had deployed a special enforcement team to Lagos to monitor adherence to the order, which seeks to free up personnel for core security assignments.

Hundeyin said the team began its operation around 10am on December 6, covering major hotspots in the state, including the Lekki–Ikoyi Link Bridge, the domestic wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, and other strategic locations.

According to him, the monitoring exercise revealed “a satisfactory and commendable level of compliance” as no case of unauthorised deployment of officers for VIP escort duties was recorded.

He added that the enforcement team made no arrests during the operation.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, was quoted as saying the Force remained committed to fully implementing the presidential directive.

He said the NPF would continue to redeploy officers to front-line policing roles to boost security, crime prevention, and the protection of lives and property.

“The Nigeria Police Force will continue to enforce this policy nationwide without fear or favour,” the statement added.

Hundeyin urged members of the public to support the ongoing reforms aimed at improving professionalism, efficiency, and citizen-focused policing across the country.
