Putin Announces Russia’s Generous Grain Shipment to Africa Despite Export Restrictions
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Monday that despite all restrictions, Russia has sent almost 12 million tons of grain to African countries.
Speaking at the plenary session of the international parliamentary conference on the theme of “Russia-Africa in a multipolar world,” Putin revealed that while only 3 million tons of grain were sent to Africa from Ukraine between August 1, 2022, and September 20, 2022, 1.3 million tons of grain were sent to the poorest African countries.
Putin emphasised that during the same period, despite all export restrictions on Russian grain, almost 12 million tons of grain were shipped from Russia to Africa.
According to Putin, if Russia decides not to renew this deal after the recent 60-day extension, it is prepared to deliver all the volume previously sent to countries in Africa that are particularly in need free of charge.
