Troops of the Nigerian Military, under Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA, have raided a suspected weapon fabrication workshop linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Anambra State.
The raid, which took place in Ihiala Local Government Area, was disclosed by the Defence Headquarters during its weekly operational briefing for the period December 3 to December 12, 2025.
According to the DHQ, the operation was part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in kidnapping and illegal arms production in the South East.
During the operation, troops recovered arms, ammunition and various tools used for weapon servicing and fabrication. Fifteen kidnapped victims were also rescued during coordinated operations across the region.
The military said troops also carried out operations in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Ogbadigbo in Benue State, Ikang in Cross River State and Ishielu in Ebonyi State.
In addition, 11 illegal immigrants apprehended during the operations were handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service for further action.
The Defence Headquarters said troops would continue operations aimed at denying criminal elements, including IPOB/ESN operatives, freedom of action in the South East and other parts of the country.
